Renting the double decker pontoon with dual slides was the highlight of our family vacation! We were able to visit Crab Island, and it was fun for the entire family (ages 10 to 62)! So my wife and her friends just chartered a pontoon with an alleged “captain” to crab island. Storms bearing down multiple lighting strikes within a mile?? How do you qualify your “captains” if they can’t watch a radar and are subjecting their customers to risk? Beyond sub par, actually disgraceful behavior. Shame on your business and “captains” we live in the lightning strike capital of America and before you reply to my comment and tell me you can’t control the weather you’re very capable of monitoring it and informing your customers it’s time to go. Lightning within 10 miles is grounds to seek shelter lighting inside a mile is negligence and before you tell me it’s not true I have screen shots and pictures from multiple weather stations that indicate those strikes. Fast check in, fair price and nice pontoon boating experience! Took out for crab island but we took off to the west of that spot first and found a private beach area to eat lunch and relax with with no crowds. It was a great day. When we got back the staff were very friendly and super helpful with restaurant choices and things to do in the area. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Half-day pontoon rental to Crab Island was perfect!  Boats were well-maintained and easy to navigate. Tyler had us up and ready to go right at our reservation time wasting no time. We had a fantastic experience with Gilligan’s Watersports for our Crab Island pontoon rental! They gave us their newest pontoon boat it was super clean, spacious, and in perfect condition. 4 of us rented a pontoon for four hours to go to Crab Island and had a great time!  Gilligans helped to answer all of our questions prior to booking. It was easy to reserve online and fill out the necessary paperwork online and check in was a breeze and we were able to leave a little early for the excursion.  The boat was a newer model and very comfortable.   We were having so much fun we called to see if we could extend for an additional hour and it was just a small cost so we did. This was one of the most FUN things we have done! Our original plans were canceled due to weather and it was later afternoon with most places not renting pontoons but Laura and Katie at Gilligan’s was able to accommodate us and make our evening. We created memories that will last a lifetime. There are a lot of boat rentals here and all priced around the same so it’s really the people that make it better and separate it. Please bring with you the provided confirmation number (located on the voucher e-mailed to you after online purchase) and a valid drivers license for verification. Gilligans Watersports is located at 530 Harbor Boulevard E, Destin, FL 32541. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early with a valid ID and credit card for incidentals. It is best to confirm your booking at least 24 hours prior to your departure date. Reservations booked less than 24hrs prior to arrival are not guaranteed until confirmed by the vendor.

Parking

Gilligan's Watersports (530 Harbor Blvd): parking is free and right on property, first come, first served — if our lot fills, overflow parking is at 531 Mountain Drive.

Destin X (214 Harbor Blvd): on-site parking is capped at one vehicle per reservation, first come, first served. Extra cars park free at 310 Mountain Drive or for $15 per vehicle at 285 US-98 W; RVs and trailers use the paid public lot across the street.

Xtreme H2O (7 Calhoun Ave): public parking at the Destin Marina, first come, first served — space runs tight on busy days, so carpool if you can.

Check-In

Check-in opens 45 minutes before your scheduled time — bring a valid photo ID for every driver. Florida requires a boater safety certificate for anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who wants to drive; the NASBLA temporary Florida test is offered on site for $3, though completing it online ahead of time is quicker. Once you’re checked in, the dock crew fits your life jackets, runs the walkthrough, and sends you off.

Worth packing: reef-safe sunscreen, a hat with a strap, a phone leash or waterproof pouch, and a small soft-sided cooler with drinks — no glass.
